ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Human Trafficking Prevention Commission
Advisory Board
Yesterday I read a quote that made me stop everything I was doing.
“One of these Days the people of Louisiana are going to get good government –and they aren’t going to like it.” Huey Long
Why wouldn’t people like good government, isn’t that what everyone wants? In 2017, I was nominated by the Louisiana Association of Children and Family Agencies (LACFA) to apply for Gov. John Bel Edwards’ Human Trafficking Prevention Commission Advisory Board. That same year, I was appointed by Gov. Edwards to join that Board. I did not know at that time the significance of the battle we were facing in Louisiana. It is with great Leadership from First Lady Donna Edwards, Dr. Dana Hunter of the Children’s Cabinet and all those who have signed up to be on the front lines, that we are fighting against those who have chosen to buy and sell OUR people. Referring back to the quote I mentioned above, we DO have good government now, and the bad guys definitely don’t like it! Human trafficking has become a rapidly evolving multi-billion dollar industry. These criminals are stealing the innocence of our children and placing fear in our society. I am confident in the leadership of our governor and first lady that the people responsible for these crimes are and will continue to be held accountable. Louisiana is known for our culture, our kindness to our neighbor, are celebrations, we WILL NOT be known for letting human traffickers operate in our state. Please make sure to contact law enforcement if you see something that looks suspicious.
