Louisiana Women Veterans
Health Care Symposium
Louisiana Women Veterans Health Care Symposium Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs
Our nation’s heroes are not just men. Many women serve in our Armed Forces too. Like men, they are entitled to the benefits they have earned through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and one of those benefits is health care.
Women veterans have health care needs that are very different than men, and the federal VA has made great strides in providing that care; however, many women veterans are hesitant to receive it. For this reason, the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs will host the Louisiana Women Veterans Health Care Symposium virtually on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 9 a.m. The purpose of the symposium is to ensure that Louisiana women veterans are aware of and receive care if they need it. LDVA staff and symposium panelists will provide information about health care locations, enrollment assistance and current care programs. Additionally, women veterans support groups across the state will be highlighted.
Panelists will include:
- LaShondra Brown-Dixon, LCSW-BACS
Women Veteran Program Manager
Alexandria Veteran Affairs Health Care System - Felicia Vance, B.A., M.S.W.
Lead Veteran Experience Officer
Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System - Nikkole Weiss, LCSW, CCM
Transition and Care Management Case Manager
Overton Brooks VA Medical Center - Tanya Whitney

State Ambassador for the Military Women’s Memorial
2019 Center for Women Veterans Trailblazer - Tonja Myles, CPSS
