J. Célèste Kee is the inaugural Director of the New Orleans Arts Education Alliance (ArtsEdALL), an organization working to ensure access to the arts for children in Orleans Parish public schools. This year she is very excited to partner with the Louisiana First Foundation on the Teach MAM initiative, a program to increase music, arts and movement across Louisiana’s K-12 schools! She has taught Visual Arts and English Language Arts in New Orleans, North Carolina and Dubai. Dr. Kee received her B.A. in Art History from Duke University, and her Ph.D. in Arts Education & Policy from Penn State University. She currently serves on the editorial board of two national arts education journals, and publishes research on issues of equity and cultural relevance in K-12 arts education. In her free time, she enjoys creating collage and assemblage art, curating children’s gallery shows, practicing yoga and meditation, and exploring the beautiful natural scenery of Louisiana with her husband and family.
